Djoniba Dance Centre @RIOULT

Since its inception in 1992, on 18th Street in Manhattan, The Djoniba Dance & Drum Centre, founded and directed by Djoniba Mouflet, has striven to celebrate global diversity by offering a stunning variety of the best dance classes for adults and children, that include African, Brazilian, Haitian, Cuban, Caribbean, Salsa, Capoeira, Zumba, and Belly Dance. Djoniba Centre has won many awards as one of the best Dance Schools in New York and has become a popular and fun cultural and fitness destination.

Djoniba Dance Centre also, offers classes for children ages 4-16 years old (www.djonibakids.com). In line with Djoniba Mouflet’s vision of bridging the economic gap, the Centre offers free Dance & Drum scholarships for children from low-income families. See Djoniba Dance Kids.

    Cuban Rumba

    Guinean Dance

    Guinean dance has been passed down for centuries in various villages. In 1958 President Sekou Touré developed a prestigious national ballet to showcase the finest Guinean artists around the world. The dance form is high energy, helping to increase fitness and strength.

    Kutiro/Bougarabou

    Kutiro dance and music originates from the Jola people of Casamance in southern Senegal. Named for the drum used to play the dance’s rhythms, kutiro dances are fast-paced with intricate footwork. This high-energy dance is rooted in the legs and core but integrate the entire body.
